Nursery  -  Butterfly Class

Our nursery offers a fantastic start to your child’s education. We want our children to become independent, confident, self-motivated and enthusiastic learners. Children are able to achieve their full potential within a secure, caring and happy environment.


Here's what we'll be covering this term in Nursery:


English

In English, we will be learning to join in with Owl Babies, A Very Busy Spider, Little Red Riding Hood and Journey Home from Grandpa’s.

We will be learning and understanding that print can have different purposes and develop play around favourite stories using props. We will be enjoying listening to longer stories and engage in extended conversations about stories.


Maths

In maths, we will be learning to link numerals and amounts, solve real world mathematical problems with numbers up to 5 and say one number for each item in order: 1,2,3,4,5. Show ‘finger numbers’ up to 5 and take part in finger rhymes with numbers.

We will be learning to recite numbers past 5 and have fast recognition of up to 3 objects-subitising. Understand position through words and discuss routes and locations. Make comparisons relating to weight and talk about & explore 2D  & 3D shapes, using: ‘sides’, ‘corners’; ‘straight’ etc.


Topics that we will be covering across this half-term

We will be exploring our environment and learning about different festivals and religious festivals, including St. George's Day and Father's Day.


P.E.

We have our outdoor learning sessions on Muddy Mondays and children will need to have a sun hat and have sun cream applied BEFORE coming to nursery and bring their welly boots.


Our P.E. day is Wednesday.

Please send your child to school wearing trainers on this day.

We will be learning different ways of moving in P.E and exploring our outdoor equipment in the playground, including bikes and scooters. We will be practising for sports day too.
