Here’s what we’ll be covering over this term in Year 6:
English
| In English, we will be doing some writing based on our class story ‘Holes’. We will also be revising our reading and grammar skills in preparation for the SATs tests in May. |

Maths
In maths, we will be revising all the things we’ve learnt in year 6 ready for SATs. We will then be learning about spirals and data after SATs.
Topics that we will be covering across the half-term
RE - We will be learning about social justice
Art - Architecture
Geography - Mountains
PE
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.
We will be doing athletics to prepare for sports day and orienteering.
Please ensure children have the correct kit in school for when they need it, including trainers.
Homework
This is the homework children will be expected to do:
- Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and log this on BoomReader.
- Children need to learn their spellings each week.
- Children get maths homework on Fridays and this is due in the following Wednesday.
- Children need to complete 21 minutes of TT Rockstars.
We check this every week and any homework not completed will be completed during breaks and lunchtimes at school with support from staff.
We will offer lunchtime clubs for children to stay in to complete any of their homework if they choose to.

Planned Trips
On the afternoon of Friday 15th May, we will be going to Memorial Park for the afternoon to celebrate the children completing their SATs.
Dates for your diary
Monday 11th May – Thursday 14th May - Children will sit their SATs
Every morning of SATs week, children can come in for a free breakfast from 8am. Information about this has been shared on Class Dojo.
