Here’s what we’ll be covering over this term in Year 6:
English
In English this term, the children will be writing a persuasive leaflet linked to South America, a Non-Chronological report based on a creature that lives in the Amazon rainforest and a biography linked to our class story “Kensuke’s Kingdom".
Maths
In maths, we will be mastering our skills of number and place (NPV), calculation, ratio and proportion and angles.

PE
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.
In PE we will be learning and developing out dance and netball skills.
Please ensure children have the correct kit in school for when they need it.
Homework
As we are preparing the children for their end of primary school assessments and their transition to high school, we do have slightly higher homework expectations than they may have experienced before. We will check this every week, and any homework not completed will be completed during breaks and lunchtimes at school with support from staff.
We will offer lunchtime clubs for children to stay in to complete any of their homework if they choose to.
This is the homework children will be expected to do:
- Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and log this on BoomReader.
- Children need to learn their spellings each week for the test on Friday.
- Children get maths homework on Fridays, and this is due the following Wednesday.
- Children need to complete 21 minutes of TT Rockstars by Monday of each week.
