Nursery - Butterfly Class

Our nursery offers a fantastic start to your child’s education. We want our children to become independent, confident, self-motivated and enthusiastic learners. Children are able to achieve their full potential within a secure, caring and happy environment.
Here's what we'll be covering this term in Nursery:
English
In English, we will be learning to join in with nursery rhymes and action songs, e.g. Head, shoulders, knees and toes and 1,2 Buckle my shoe. We will be reading Mrs Wishy Washy’s Farm, Elves and the Shoemaker, Rosie’s Walk and Monkey Puzzle.

Maths

In Maths, we will be learning to:
- Link numerals and amounts
- Solving real world mathematical problems with numbers up to 5
- To say one number for each item in order
- Fast recognition of up to 3 objects – Subitising
- Understand position through words
- Discuss routes and locations
- To learn all about different shapes and day and night.
Topics that we will be covering across this half-term
We will be exploring our environment and learning about different festivals and religious festivals and celebrations. We will be celebrating and learning all about St. George’s Day and also learning all about Father's Day.
P.E.
We have our outdoor learning sessions on Muddy Mondays and children will need to dress appropriately for the weather (sun hats and sun cream once the weather gets warmer) and bring their welly boots.

Our P.E day is Wednesday morning
Please send your child to school wearing trainers on this day.
We will be developing our ball skills – Kicking, throwing and catching a ball. Practising for sports day and moving with control and coordination – starting and stopping, jumping and running.

Please look at Dojo every day for all the exciting activities and events that are being planned for your children.
The graduation ceremony (for children starting in reception in September 2026) will be in July. More details to follow.
