Here's what we'll be covering this term in Reception:


English

In English this half-term, the children will learn the stories: Gingerbread Man and the Christmas Story.

Your children will act out these stories, learn actions, retell the story verbally, sequence pictures from the stories etc.

      


Maths 

We follow the White Rose Maths Scheme and the topics that will be covered are:

  • Shape circles and triangles
  • Numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
  • Shapes with 4 sides

P.E.

Every Tuesday morning for both Poppy Class and Tulip Class

What will the children be learning:

  • Revise and refine the fundamental movement skills they have already acquired
    rolling
    crawling
    walking
    jumping
    running
    hopping
    skipping
    climbing
  • Progress towards a more fluent style of moving, with developing control and grace.
  • Develop their overall body strength, co-ordination, balance and agility needed to engage successfully in future physical education sessions and other physical disciplines including dance, gymnastics, sport.
  • Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently. Suggested tools: pencils for drawing and writing, paintbrushes, scissors, knives, forks and spoons.
  • Use their core muscle strength to achieve a good posture when sitting at a table or sitting on the floor.

We will spend time learning how to get dressed and undressed for PE.

Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing; this can be in the form of plain black tracksuit bottoms or plain black shorts and a plain white or red t-shirt. 

No jewellery is to be worn on PE days


Homework

Every child is expected to access Numbots

Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and adult to log this on Boom Reader.
