Here’s what we’ll be covering over Spring term in Year 3:
English
In English this term, the children will learn about and write a variety of texts such as poetry and dialogue. We will be writing our own poems and trick/prank/dialogue. We will be reading Riddles, ‘The Twits’ and Shape Poems. |

Maths
|
In maths, the children will be learning more about fractions, where they will be counting in fractions using number lines, understand equivalent fractions and fractions in a bar model. With shape, they will be learning to draw and measure angles, understand parallel and perpendicular lines and 2D and 3D shapes.
They will also be doing more work on length and perimeter. Here they will be learning about perimeter and how to calculate it. |

PE
We have PE on the following days:
Tuesdays and Thursdays
This term the children will be practising and learning the skills for Dance and Orienteering.
Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing; this can be in the form of plain black tracksuit bottoms with elasticated legs, plain black or red shorts and a plain white or red t-shirt. Children will need trainers.
No jewellery is to be worn on PE days.
Homework
Every child is expected to complete their three-weekly reads, access TT Rockstars for at least 21 minutes and practice their weekly spellings on Spelling Frame for 21 minutes.


Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and log this on Boom Reader.
