Here’s what we’ll be covering over Summer term in Year 3:
English | |||
In English this term, the children will learn about and write a variety of texts such as: Stories, emails and letters.
We will be writing our own emails for a story, followed by letters.
We will be reading ‘The Dragonsitter’.

Maths | |||
In maths the children will be learning more about place value, where they will be comparing and ordering numbers up to 1,000 and counting in 50s.
With addition and subtraction, they will be learning the complements to 100, estimating answers using the skills of inverse operations. They will also be doing more work on multiplication and division. Here they will be multiplying and dividing 2-digit numbers with 1-digit numbers, broadening their understanding of exchanging and using remainders.

PE | |||
Tuesday - Swimming
Children’s swimming lessons take place at Inspire public swimming pool.
Your child will need the following:
Boys – Swimming shorts, above the knee, no combat or long shorts allowed.
Girls – one-piece swimming costume, no bikinis allowed.
We also have PE on the following days:
Maroon – Wednesday Cardinal - Wednesday Scarlet – Thursday
This term the children will be practicing and learning the skills needed for Sports Day.
Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing; this can be in the form of plain black tracksuit bottoms with elasticated legs, plain black or red shorts and a plain white or red t-shirt.
No jewellery is to be worn on PE days.

Homework | |||
Every child is expected to complete their three-weekly reads, access TT Rockstars for at least 21 minutes and practice their spellings.
Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and log this on Boom Reader.
Children need to learn their spellings each week.
