Here’s what we’ll be covering in Year 3 over the academic year
English | ||
In English we will be focusing on an extract from the story James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. The children will be learning about the different stages of a story and concentrating on having dramatic starters and detailed resolutions. The non-fiction text will be a balanced argument ‘Should people be fined for trying to hunt for whales?’ The children will eventually write a balanced argument of their own in week 3.

Maths | ||
In maths we be learning about various different topics throughout the term
Starting the term of with Multiplication and division followed by 2 weeks on fractions. We will then move on to spending a week on decimals, time, shape and finish off with a week on number and place value.
As always we will have a high focus on Times tables and will be focusing on the 10, 5, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 11 times tables.

PE | ||
We have PE on Wednesday and Thursday
In PE the children will be learning to play bench ball and orienteering.
Please ensure children have the correct PE kit and no earrings are to be worn on PE days.
All clothes should be labelled

Reading daily or at least 3 times a week – please record on boom read so we know you have read with your child.
